We started making jackets because every jacket we owned was failing.
Two climbers. Three failed jackets. One garage.
It started in 2023 on a February alpine route outside Boulder. Two climbing partners, one storm that wasn't in the forecast, and three jackets from three different "premium" brands — all leaking within 90 minutes.
We got back to the car soaked, hypothermic, and furious. Not at the mountain. At the gear. We'd spent over $1,200 on shells that couldn't handle a real storm.
So we started building our own. Not as a brand. Not as a business. We just wanted a jacket that actually worked.
Six months in a garage in Denver. Sourcing Toray Dermizax EV membrane directly from Japan — the same material used in Japanese mountaineering expeditions. Finding a factory in Portland, Oregon that builds for military contracts and agreed to do a 200-unit run for two unknowns with no track record.
We put those 200 units on a bare-bones website with no ads, no influencer deals, no PR agency. Sold out in 11 days. Every sale came from word of mouth — climbers telling climbers.
Today we've fulfilled over 2,400 orders. Still no paid advertising. Still the same Portland factory. Still the same standard: build gear that performs when the weather is trying to kill you.
We publish our specs.
Most brands hide behind marketing language. We tell you exactly what you're getting.
Portland, Oregon.
Every piece is made in Portland, Oregon, by the same factory that builds for military contracts. Not a marketing decision. A quality decision.
Our production team has over 40 years of combined experience in technical garment construction. They work with bonded seams, laminated fabrics, and waterproof membranes every day — not as a side project, but as their specialty.
We run smaller batches intentionally. It means we can inspect every unit, catch problems before they ship, and iterate faster when we find something to improve. Scale will come. Quality comes first.

Climbers, skiers, engineers, and one person who keeps the spreadsheets honest.
